Students achieve Arrows Young Leader Award

Archery success story for Redbridge High School, Liverpool students following completion of their Arrows Young Leader Awards.

Despite the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic, a group of students at Redbridge High School in Liverpool – a school which specialises in educational provision for pupils with SLD (Severe Learning Disability) and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) – have been working towards their Duke of Edinburgh awards, which included archery as part of their individual skills section.

Although none of the students had used a bow and arrow before, they have worked hard to not only master the handling of the bow, but have worked as a group (within their class bubble) helping each other through the learning process.

For the individual students, archery has not only provided an opportunity to develop their manual dexterity and interpersonal skills but has also allowed them to build their own confidence while learning new skills and having fun through participating in archery.

As part of their individual development, all the students have completed their Arrows Young Leader Award and will hopefully be introducing Arrows archery to younger students once the Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.
